Mr. Hawkins began his banking career at Columbia Federal Savings Bank and then went on to work at Suffolk County National Bank. After that bank’s merger with People’s United Bank, he served as regional manager for business banking, which held approximately $800 million in loans and deposits.

He has graduated from the American Banking Association’s National Commercial Lending School and the National Commercial Lending Graduate School.

Todd Popovich is the Managing Director for Institutional Commercial Real Estate Finance for Western Alliance Bank’s California operations. Based in Los Angeles, he is responsible for driving strategic growth while navigating today’s evolving commercial real estate market.

Having served clients across the United States, Mr. Popovich’s expertise spans the spectrum of real estate lending products and solutions, including providing note-on-note back leverage on real estate secured loans originated by non-bank capital providers. At Western Alliance, he leads a client-focused team focused on delivering tailored financing across all real estate product types and entity structures, across California and beyond.

He previously held roles with the Large Corporate Real Estate Group at formerly Bank One (now JP Morgan Chase) and with Wells Fargo, where he began with the Real Estate Banking Group in San Francisco, later relocating to Los Angeles in 2003 to lead the region as executive vice president. In 2018, he joined HSBC as regional head, based in Los Angeles, focusing on larger institutional and international sponsors and institutional real estate throughout the United States.

Mr. Popovich serves on the City of Hope Executive Board of the Los Angeles Real Estate & Construction Council and the Finance Committee of Westwood Presbyterian Church and is a past member of the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate Executive Committee. He has been involved with ICSC, NAIOP and the Urban Land Institute.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance/Marketing from the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, graduating magna cum laude.
